The proof

Coached by someone who has done the distance, not just studied it.

Wins, records, and the days it went wrong. Amit has finished La Ultra, Spartathlon and The Border, and dropped out of Spartathlon once before finishing it. Both count.

Amit's record

Every start, in order.

Wins, records and the days it went wrong. We do not publish numbers we cannot stand behind.

  1. Late 2015 · First ultra

    Bhatti Lakes Ultra

Bhatti Lakes, Faridabad · 80 km
    His first ultramarathon

Pacing and nutrition were alien ideas. He tailed experienced runners, then set off on his own, and learned early that an ultra is a mind game.

  2. August 2016 · Record

    24 Hour Stadium Run

    Bengaluru · 188.8 km in 24 hours
    National record

His first 24-hour stadium run set a new national mark and earned a place on India's team for the 2017 IAU 24 Hour World Championships. The visa did not come through.

  3. August 2017 · Finish

    La Ultra – The High

    Ladakh · 222 km
    First Indian to finish

Over Khardung La and Wari La, in 38 hours 20 minutes.

  4. September 2018 · DNF

    Spartathlon

Greece · 246 km, Athens to Sparta
    Did not finish

An unseasonal downpour sent his body into hypothermia. He dropped out, and it stayed part of the record.

  5. December 2018 · Win

    The Border

Jaisalmer to Longewala · 100 miles (161 km)
    Won his first 100-miler

He is the current national record holder for a 100-mile road race in India.

  6. 2022 · DNF

    Silk Route Ultra

    Ladakh · 122 km
    Did not finish

His energy gels thickened in the cold and stuck in his throat, and the aid stations had no warm water. He took that lesson to Greece.

  7. 30 September 2022 · Finish

    Spartathlon

Greece · 246 km, Athens to Sparta
    Finished in 35:31:22

Back for unfinished business, through heat stroke and dehydration.

  8. 8 September 2023 · Finish

    Silk Route Ultra

    Ladakh · 122 km
    4th overall in 16:21:25

The first sub-17-hour finish by a runner from outside Ladakh in the race.
